Started in 2016, the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival was started by local Jackson County artisans who were looking to fill the void created when the Mountain State Arts and Crafts Fair moved from it's traditional Fourth of July weekend date. This left many artisans and patrons of the traditional event with an open weekend with no event to attend. And so, the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival was created.
In an effort not to duplicate the Mountain State Arts and Crafts Fair, the creators of the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival introduced a family-friendly environment with lower prices, free entertainment for children - inflatables, magic shows, etc. - as well as free musical entertainment for adults, and free water stations to keep everyone cool in the heat of the summer.
Now going into the third year, the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival has become known for it's integrity and variety of art. Artists are required to create homemade art and must showcase their art before a jury to be approved. Artisans must present and answer questions from the jury to ensure their art is truly handmade and no kits are used in its production. Only artisans who showcase during a jury session and are approved by the staff are allowed to be a part of the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival. Artisans are encouraged to come back year after year and new artisans are sought out in order to provide a variety of traditional and trendy art.
Whether you are an artist, a fan of art, or are simply looking for a fun and family-friendly way to spend the Fourth of July weekend, we hope you'll come enjoy the Wild and Wonderful Arts and Crafts Festival!
